How does it Work

In the process of Irradiation the beams of radiation pass through the food subjected to radiation and the energy is transfered to the Food. This energy is absorbed by the reciding becteria and the becteria is killed.

Though most of the energy is absorbed by the food itself and free radicals are formed in the food. Free Radicals are short lived molecules which also destroy the becterial and micro organisms

Free radicals are also formed in food by the process of grinding, chopping and cooking.

Some people misunderstand Irradiated food as radioactive food, both are totally different things. Radioactivity is a natural phenomenon and is present naturally in the food that we eat. Food irradiation does not add to the natural radioactivity in food.
